I don't know where 12 is from (although it sounds familiar), but I like to imagine it's Rodney saying it to John. It could be on a mission, and he's about to do something stupid and John doesn't know it yet and then Rodney springs this on him and John realizes something is up and... it's all very dramatic and romantic in my head ;)
