The Twilight addiction continues...

So, I'm still completely addicted to the Twilight Series (it's like I'm channelling a 15 year old girl or something!!)

I've now finished Twilight, New Moon and Midnight Sun, and I've read almost half of Eclipse.

I can't really explain the attraction --- in theory, it doesn't have much going for it. The writing isn't amazing, the story isn't particularly unique, and I'm usually incredibly frustrated by teenage angst and drama. But yet, I can't put them down! It's just... addictive! A strange, undeniable, irresistible addiction.

It's that perfect kind of mindless drivel. The books that I usually read require a lot of concentration, and since I read so much at work, when I get home, the last thing that I usually want to do is read something else that will require me to think. With Twilight, my mind can relax, and I can become completely engrossed in the book and forget about everything else. Like a drug!

I really really hope that Stephanie Meyer eventually finishes Midnight Sun. I adored reading from Edward's perspective. And after she finishes writing that, she should write the others from his perspective too! Does anyone know if she's planning to do that? I got the impression from her site that she is... that'd be fantastic! His mind is so much more fascinating than hers, and it's great to get more of an insight into some of the other characters with the thoughts that they have. Plus, he's quite funny.

I have still managed to resist watching the movie. I did download a CAM version of it (and I've watched a couple of short scenes), but my friends have told me that I have to wait, and we're going to see it in the cinema on the 13th (it isn't released in Australia till the 11th, and the first couple of days will have too many excited teenagers for my liking!). Yes, most of the reviews have been pretty bad, but Robert Pattinson is hot, and I'm still looking forward to seeing the movie (but I'm keeping my expectations low). So yes, channelling a 15 year old girl is fun!

Now I have to drag myself away from the book for long enough to make some dinner. :(

If it helps any, Twilight is my favourite book and I was excited with every trailer and clip released. I actually went in expecting quite a bit... and was not disappointed! Robert is Edward for me. I came into the series after he'd already been cast so I've always imagined him in my head but... eeeeeeeee! He is definitely Edward. :)

just looked on rottentomatoes.com and it's currently on 44%... so 44 of 100 critics didn't like it... but i'm thinking given the general concept of the movie as a whole, that it may be one of those ones that critics don't get but i adore... well at least i hope so... either way i get a couple of hours of vampire hotness, so load me up with a sugary drink and i'll be good to go! :)

Aaaah! You read Midnight Sun! X.X I've been resisting the urge to read that one since she said that the leaked version was unedited or somesuch, but now you've tempted me >.> Darn it.

Yup. That's Twilight for you. It gives you no reason to be that truly impressed, but deep down inside, it's not about being impressed, just deeply absorbed into the books until you forget you haven't eaten in 12 hours (only happened once).

Ooooh, when you watch the movie, keep your eye out for Carlisle :-) You think Robert as Edward is hot? Yeah *pets* One word for you hon: Carlisle.

Well, I'm like you. I loved reading the books because they were fun and simple. I am not singing the Twilight praises or defending it from those who have read and hated, but I do get upset with people who haven't read it and bash it.

I liked Edward's perspective a LOT more than Bella's. But yeah, I read each of them in a day, and that doesn't bother me. :)

I think.. in my opinion at least, the attraction, for adult women at least, comes from that feeling of our first loves/crushes, that we had at that age. It's an innocent love without out the harshness of adult relationships. We as women relate to that and long for that kind of feeling or rush in our adult lives. I think SM captured that very well without making it complicated for the reader, which makes it simple and appealing.

after reading your posts on twilight i was actually tempted to buy the books when i saw them on display... but i have this overseas trip to save money for, and a rather large pile of books i'm still yet to read.

i really emjoyed them all. they were like watching a hilary duff movie.
gentle. nothing confronting. nothing overtly bad. lots of fast paced interesting fun moments. i guess i'll read them again one day. like comfort food.
