Does anyone have any experience with Nielson Media Research's "Set Meters"?

Nielson Media is the company responsible for TV ratings. Within Australia, TV ratings are based mostly on the viewing habits of about 5000 people around the country, who have one of these "Set Meter" thingos.

Earlier this year, I agreed to take part in a telephone survey on my TV viewing habits.

As a result of that, I just received a phone call asking if I'm interested in having a "Set Meter". Basically, they hook a little device up to your TV, and the information about what you watch is transmitted to them.

It sounds pretty good to me! I like the idea of showing that no, not everyone watches Australian Idol. Some people have no interest in Big Brother. Not everyone is obsessed with reality TV. And some females in their late twenties do like to watch geeky TV shows! Most of what they'll learn from me is that I'll turn on the TV, and go straight to a dvd. Because no, I don't want to watch the latest piece of reality TV. And no, you're not showing many things that I have the slightest interest in.

Anyway, I'm interested in hear if anyone else (particularly anyone in Australia) has experience with them. Are there are negatives?

PS I'm still on dial-up speed, so I haven't even tried to check my friendslist. I should be back to regular speed in a couple of days, and I'll catch up then! :)
