Re: the Poll - I spent some time in Texas where the "howdy nod" is also acceptable. Actually the "Howdy nod" is required for passing neighbors out on their property or anyone you know. It's sort of a curt little head bob, sometimes with a raised hand. Just, you know, a "Howdy". The nod is the same sort you would do if you were wearing a hat and tipping it to someone...except Texans are inventive and we do it without the hat sometimes.
Side note: I am now in FLA (Have been for 20+ years) but I executed an excellent "howdy nod" just the other day while driving out in a rural area and I passed a farmer out checking a section of fence. He nodded and without even thinking I did a perfect howdy nod in reply. Glad to know being polite is like riding a bicycle.
Ahem - on to Six Degrees! We used to play this all the time. And thus, here are the people that earned "bonus points" if you could use them in any link when my friends and I would play. Good luck!!
* Gary Oldman * Gary Sinese * Isabella Rossalini * Keifer Sutherland * Oliver Platt * Kenneth Branuagh * Emma Thompson * Helena Bonham Carter and lastly...the Ruperts - Either Rupert Everett or Rupert Graves.
