Favourite season?

SGA fans, assuming that you have to make a decision, and have to choose just one, which is your favourite season?

[Poll #1060811]

I have been thinking about it myself, and I just can't decide. There are things about all of them that I love.

In season 1 everything was so new and exciting. Its the season that introduced us to the dorky antics of McKay and Sheppard, it brought us the hotness of The Defiant One, the wonderful Letters From Pegasus, and the great script idea of Before I Sleep. In season 1 we also saw the most transformation in McKay --- we discovered that he is not just the arrogant and self-centred man we first met in SG1, but he is also incredibly heroic and brave.

Season 2 was also great. We were introduced to Ronon --- sure, Ford was ok, but I just never warmed to him in the same way that I did with Ronon. We had amazing acting from Hewlett in Grace Under Pressure, we had the dorky dorky glasses, and who could forget the synchronised presentation from McKay and Sheppard?!

Then, there is season 3. There were bad episodes like Irresistible and Irresponsible, but there were also lots of brilliant episodes --- Sateda, McKay and Mrs. Miller, Echoes, Tao of Rodney... I could go on... *shrugs* I just can't decide!!

In other news, I love this new icon that I have --- the expression on Sheppard's face is great! It was made by [livejournal.com profile] magicnosegoblin at [livejournal.com profile] not_so_trendy --- if you have time you should check out her stuff!

*brain explodes*
THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!
Buuuuut, if it were life and death that I choose, I suppose season 3, but I'm SURE season 4 is going to fantastic.

I never really liked Ford. I did think Irresistible was pretty funny though. Not one of their better episodes, but silly.I think season 3 had the best stories all together though. :)

*grins* Sorry for making you choose! I found it really hard to decide, but went with season 3 in the end too.

And you're right, even my least favourite episodes like Irresistible still had some very funny and entertaining moments! *nods* It was a great season! :)

It's ok, it's worth the choice!
I didn't get into SGA until the middle of season 3, and I got SO hooked that by the end of season 3 (which I downloaded and watched early), I had already finished catching up on season 1, 2 and the begining of 3, lol. I was such a hard core SG1 fan that I never paid SGA any attention and I don't normally watch spin-offs, but SGA has it's own element that makes it great. It's a fantastic show and I hope it lasts as long as SG1 did. I can not WAIT for season 4 to start!!! *squees*

That's easy - it had it's flaws, but hands down season 1. It was special. The rest was so-so cliché SciFi stuff with a very few highlights.

Season 1 was very special. I love how new and exciting everything was! I also love that cliche SciFi stuff, so I'm still loving the later stuff too. :)

I can't decide either! They all kick ass for different reasons. Season one was when I got into the show and everything was shiny. Season two brought Ronon, and even though I liked Ford S1, Ronon is just that awesome. Season three had so many great episodes, and even the clunkers had great parts. And season four is sound really cool and Friday cannot get here fast enough.

It is pretty cruel of me to make people choose! I found it very difficult, but eventually decided on season 3 --- you're right that there were many great episodes and even the less good ones still had some funny and entertaining parts. I hope that season 4 is even better!! :)

Tough, tough decision. S1 is out of the running for me because I saw it first on Australian TV (and you know how out of date we are in regard to Stargate). Actually, I only watched it because I was really big on SG-1 at the time (I'd watch an episode every night before bed).

So the competition is between S2 and S3. Like you said, S3 had some horrendous duds but there was also the best stuff ever (TM). S3 gets my vote (also, it gets my vote for the worst promotion campaign).

Also, I agree with you on Ronon. He fits in so well. I especially love those fics where Ronon's sense of humour shines. Oh, remember the one where he fell in love with a box of pancakes? *glee*

I eventually decided season 3 too, but it was a very tough decision. There have been so many great episodes in all of the seasons! :)

"Oh, remember the one where he fell in love with a box of pancakes? *glee*"

I haven't read that one - it sounds hilarious though! Do you remember the name or author of it?

[identity profile] nameitlater.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
Since I had to choose, I chose S1 for all the little things that hooked me on both the show and my OTP. You know, like the friendship in Hide & Seek and the awesome fight in Trinity and all the great fic that came as a result of The Brotherhood.

*sigh* But I still love the other seasons! I just had to pick the one I loved FIRST because you made me choose. ♥

*grins* I figure that I was grueling over the decision myself, so it was only fair to put my friendslist though the same pain!! :D

I personally chose season 3, but I could easily understand why someone would choose any of the seasons --- they were amazing episodes in them all! :)

[identity profile] shironezumi.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
Eventually I chose season 3, but it was hard to decide between 2 and 3. My two favourite eps, "Duet" and "Grace under Pressure" are from season 2, but in season three we had some great episodes, too, and I finally warmed up with Ronon (took me some time, I know). On the downside - Carson. I'm still a bit in denial. ;_;

And I just have to add: your Captain Jack header is fuckin' awesome. *.*

[identity profile] morebliss.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Had to jump in here. I know what you mean about 'Sunday'. I just got the S3 dvds yesterday, and it's one episode I don't want to see again, but will. I don't think I've ever cried over a fictional character like I did over him. (And I didn't even realise how much I liked him till he was gone.)

Here, have some Jack x2 in my icon.

[identity profile] shironezumi.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Carson was the reason I started watching Stargate. I didn't watch SG-1, except when my parents watched it and I happened to be in the room, but when the Atlantis pilot came out and I happened to be in the room, I fell in love with this cute scottish doctor at first sight.
Otherwise I'd probably still not watch SGA.

So seeing him getting killed off really hurts.

Thanks, Jack² really is a comfort.^^

Duet and Grace Under Pressure are two of my favourites too, but I ended up choosing season 3 as well --- there were many great eps in that season!

John Barrowman is incredibly hot! Glad you like the header! :)

[identity profile] morebliss.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I love them all - and all to come!

I just got my S3 dvds so am all in love with that season at the moment. I really love Season Two though, and would have voted for it if it wasn't for the Sateda love I have at the moment! I also think that the season ending of one/into two opening is the bestest thing ever. And yes, a lot of that has to do with McKay's teary eyes of relief knowing Shepherd is alive. Once those slash goggles are affixed, you cannie get rid of them lassie!

Bring on Season Four! Even the worst eps of SGA are better than most everything else on telly!

If the second half of third season was marginally as good as the first half, that would have been my vote, but quite frankly, I thought it sucked rocks in the way that it just seemed to stand there, marking time, until the season finale, which had a lot of elements which should have been spread out amongst eps instead of crammed into one. /end of run-on sentence

I voted first season all the way. :D

[identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That is a tough one! Season 1 probably had the best writing overall, but Season 3 had the most adorable John and most adorable Rodney and the best John/Rodney moments. Plus you could feel the cast settling in and getting comfortable with each other and their roles. All the team stuff really clicked for me. Season 2 is probably my least favorite, although Aurora and Inferno made me giggly with joy.

Yay Atlantis!

[identity profile] crysothemis.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The first season of just about any TV show makes me cringe, SGA included. It's not that it didn't have great moments and great episodes, because it did. But to me the cast interaction feels stilted and the characters haven't gelled yet. Even my favorite first season SGA eps (with a few exceptions, like The Defiant One and The Storm/Eye) just don't feel quite right to me.

So I had to go with Season 3, which has 4 or 5 of my favorite episodes ever, plus the easy, practiced timing among the cast.

[identity profile] crysothemis.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh dear, that came out sounding horribly negative, though I didn't mean it that way. I love SGA (first season included) dearly, and actually I think the cast gelled extremely quickly. Just, I really like the comfort of the character interactions in the second and third seasons.

[identity profile] lavvyan.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I voted season three, because it had the sweetest John/Rodney moments, with a familiarity between them that was naturally missing from season one.

But. I hated that Earth keeps butting in and trying to call the shots in season three. I also didn't like the whole Lucius thing. And boy, did I hate McKay & Mrs. Miller!

So. Season three, yes, but not entirely. :)

[identity profile] jakisbishlygay.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I pretty much like them all equally, but I picked season 1 'cause of them not being in contact with Earth.

But now that i think about it... Season 2 was when McKay hung upside down from a tree, and Lorne threatened to shoot him, and LORNE!! *thinks about changing her answer*

[identity profile] immoralilly.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
I totally accept that Season 1 was a bit crap, all things considered, and also had Ford who was totally useless, but for some strange reason I adore it in all its badly CGI-ed, simply-plotted glory.

It was just so exciting and fun and new, and it has my very favorite episode ever, Defiant One. And when I want a laugh I look at Teyla's wigs from the very first episodes.

[identity profile] colonel-taisa.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
I picked season 3, because yea season 2 had some pretty good episodes, but overall I liked season 3 better.. and um.. I actually haven't *seen* most of season 1... except the first and last episodes, so I can't really say.

[identity profile] alaxes.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I only could choose between seaon 1 and 2... we're still waiting for season 3 -.-' So it was season 2!

[identity profile] timeillusion.livejournal.com 2007-09-29 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I love them ALL, but picked Season 4 just because I watched the premiere last night and it was OH so good. I think the season will rock for various reasons. And as much as I hated to see SG-1 go, it might actually put more writing/producing power on Atlantis. When do you get Season 4?

[identity profile] somethings-awry.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
*randomly pipes in a month later*

I chose season 4, just because I never really like Weir. She's always just bugged me, so I'm looking forward to her being gone and Sam being there. ^_^;;
