Rodney McKay: Sex God - An Iconic Tribute!

This week advent_atlantis is all about "Rodney McKay: Sex God". Since this is a topic close to my heart, an icon post was obviously required! So, here's my iconic tribute to Rodney!

I must add - pictures really don't do him justice! And what is it that I love about him? His eyes, his shoulders, his crooked mouth, his sarcasm, his vulnerability, his arrogance ... I could go on ... "But still I digress, where was I...uh, leadership!" ... no, icons! Enjoy! (If you like them, help yourself - I'd love to hear what people think!)

great icons, as per usual. i was wondering, how do you make icons like the one you posted with and #13 (with the tiny animations in a bigger pic)? i've seen them around and have lusted after them. i suppose one needs a special program for it?

I love those mini movie icons. I use photoshop and "image ready", which comes with photoshop.

There are a couple of ways to make them - apparently you can just insert an actual movie clip like in this tutorial (http://community.livejournal.com/icon_tutorial/375897.html) - I've never tried that so I'm not sure how hard it is.

I made #13 by taking 11 screencaps of that scene... I chose the shot of David that I wanted for the larger picture in the icon, and then I just pasted each of the 11 screencaps onto the larger pic.

So I had 11 seperate images, (each had that larger picture and a shot of the scene in the corner).

I saved them all separately, then dragged them onto one picture (so each of the 11 pictures was a separate layer). I then used the "make frames from the layers" button (on the animation toolbar), then animated each for 0.1sec. Then I saved it as a .gif in ImageReady. (That sounds complex, but its not too hard! Let me know if you want better instructions!)

hmmm. i don't think i can get photoshop, but maybe i can work something out in GIMP, it has animation abilities. i'm just so lazy :) thanks for the explanation! i'm saving it for future reference.
