I started reading Twilight last night, and I'm completely hooked. I've been intrigued by all of the fuss for a while, but to be honest, I wasn't expecting too much, and I didn't really think I'd like it.

I was wrong. I love it! It's certainly not the best written book, but it is quite addictive! I got into work late today, because I spent two hours reading it this morning! I'm hooked enough that I went out in my lunch break and bought all of the books! I'm about half way through, and she now knows that he's a vampire! *is shocked*

Speaking of vampires named Edward, want to hear something weird? On Monday night I was looking through some old papers and I found a story that I wrote in high school. It starts as I'm about to die, and then I explain how it all happened (much like Twilight) --- the story is about this vampire named Edward! How's that for coincidence!?! (I wonder if I could prove she stole my idea and then get myself some royalties!)

Heh. I did the same thing, except I bought all the audio books and am now listening to the last one...Breaking Dawn. If you go to her site (Stephenie Meyer) you can download the draft of book 5 - Midnight Sun. It doesn't sound like she'll ever finish it. Or at least not anytime soon.

Must. Read. Midnight. Sun.

I actually enjoyed it more than Twilight, though that could be because it's all from Edward's POV. :) I am crushed at the thought she may never finish it. *pouts*

I'm REALLY enjoying Midnight Sun. I'm currently about halfway through, and I just can't stop reading it! It's fascinating to see things from his point of view, and it's interesting to get some more insight into a few other characters through their thoughts. Plus, he's quite funny in places! I do hope she finishes it!

Yeah, that was me when she first released the first 12 chapters. Couldn't stop reading for love or money. Edward's head is far more interesting than Bella's. ;)

I do hope she finishes it!

Unfortunately, it's unlikely. :( I don't know if she has the details up on her site - do you know about the brouhaha surrounding those 12 chapters being leaked?

Yeah, that's so true! :)

Yep, she wrote about it on her site. It's just so sad that all of the other fans now have to suffer. Obviously its completely terrible that someone betrayed her trust, and I can completely understand that she doesn't feel like working on it anymore, but I hope that as time passes, she'll go back to it. (If only because she'll make so much money from another book!)

Yay, I already read them. Actually I'm re-reading Twilight at the moment just to get the taste of bad movie out of my mouth. Don't waste your money on it. It's awful.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't like the movie. I'm actually kinda looking forward to it (it isn't released here for another couple of weeks). I'm certainly not expecting much from it, but I always find it entertaining to see how they try to fit a whole book into a movie (usually it just doesn't have the same effect).

The problem is that they didn't try to fit the whole book in the movie. They cut way too much out and completely changed other things. Still though, catch a cheaper showing so at least if you don't like it, you won't be mad you paid 20 bucks like I did, ;)

Oh, that sucks. It is frustrating when you like the way a book is written, and then the movie completely changes it. I'll make sure my expectations are low!! :)

I think if you try to take the book seriously or judge it on its literary merits (of which there are none) then you'll be disappointed - but if you read it for the sparkly crack it is you'll be satisfied =)

LOL They are addictive, aren't they? I mean, they're certainly not great by literary standards but they certainly do suck you in! I've been re-reading the first book in preparation for the movie.

Very addictive! I finished the first one last night, and I've just started the second. Now I know what you've been referring to for months on your journal! I'll have to go back and read your recs again now that I'm hooked too! :)

*g* I find it funny every time someone says that to me. You're about the third or fourth person that's gotten into Twilight and is all "NOW I know what you were blathering on about!" Hehehe

I'll have to go back and read your recs again now that I'm hooked too! :)

I'll wait until you've finished the series before I prod you for your shipping preference. ;p

Well, at the moment, I'm really liking Edward / Bella. He is irresistible --- I've always had a 'thing' for tall, dark and dangerous men! I really like her character too. However, I'm only about a quarter of the way through New Moon, so that might change. :)

I'm now having the same dilemma as the one you had --- I'm trying to decide if I should be strong, and wait and see the movie for the first time on big screen, or watch the CAM version of it now. I haven't even seen the trailer or any clips from the movie yet, and part of me thinks that I'll enjoy it more if it's all new at the cinema,... but it's another two weeks! Do I have that much willpower!?

*decides I need some Twilight icons* :)

Heh. I can completely understand because I'm the same! I dunno what it is exactly but Edward appeals to me. :)

I see you decided to cave re: movie. Hee! I really can't blame you though. It was terribly cruel of the distribution companies to delay our release by 3-or-so freakin' weeks. What were they thinking?! I'll still see it on the big screen, of course. HELLO HUGEMONGOUS EDWARD. :D

Well, I caved enough to download, but I'm still going to try to wait till the movie is released here till I watch the whole thing. I did watch a couple of little scenes, and I think I'm going to like it!!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I accidentally spoilt myself for the later books - I was reading a review/summary thing for Twilight, and then it suddenly started mentioning major plot points from the other books. I hate that! But don't worry - I won't spoil you!

I hope this means you haven't watched the movie. Not that it's bad, it's just something you should watch after you read the book :-P

*pet pet* I have all four. Read all four. And all I can say is that they're not the greatest thing in the world and there will be times you want to strangle a lot of people (including the author, and yourself), but it is indeed like a drug (ironic, in a way) and you can't help but keep reading *.*

OH! Will you be doing reviews? It'd be hilarious to know your thoughts on each book, when you read them of course :-P

Nope - I haven't seen the movie yet. It isn't released here till Thursday next week. I did download a CAM version of it, but I'm trying to resist because I think it'll be better to watch it for the first time on big screen!

I'm now half way through Eclipse, and I'm still loving them! I'm surprised that I've haven't been very frustrated by any of the characters yet! It's strange because usually that kind of teenage drama is irritates me.

I'll probably try to write up more of my thoughts once I finish them all! :)

Can't wait for you to see it then, you're totally going to swoon (against your will, I assure you *wink wink*).

I like them, but some of them kind of messed with my braincells a bit (my favorite is Twilight though).

Have fun finishing them!
