Oh, 'Lantis. I'm going to miss you.
I tried to write some of my favourite moments, but there are just too many! There were so many great moments in my shiny, shiny show!
Behind the cut are 10 of my favourite scenes, but I know that I've missed so many. I basically went through my screencaps, and said "ooooooohhhhhh, I LOVED that scene" at fairly regular intervals. Then had the painful task of trying to keep my list to only 10!
I'd love to remember some more of the great scenes. So, dear friendslist, please spam me with your favourite scenes, quotes, screencaps, fic links... anything and everything related to SGA. Let's focus on the love!
1. The Rising - Where Rodney discovers that John is smart
McKay: Even with the six symbols Lt. Ford provided, there are still hundreds of permutations-
Sheppard: 720.
McKay: Yes. I knew that, of course, I'm just... surprised you did.

Rodney: He's pretty and he can do maths in his head! I think I may love him.
2. Hide and Seak - Where John and Rodney play together like silly little boys!
Weir: I'm still trying to understand how you thought it was a good idea to test this device by having someone throw you off a balcony.
McKay: Believe me, that's not the first thing we tried.
Sheppard (smirking): I shot him.
(Weir gives him a look.)
Sheppard: In the leg!

John: He's a genius, and he let's me shoot him and throw him off things! I think I may love him.

Rodney: I'm a genius, and I'm invulnerable. I love me!
3. The Defiant One - Where John gives Rodney a flying lesson, they explore a planet, and Rodney gets all heroic.
I love this episode so much! There's the conversation with Weir where they sound like boys trying to convince their mother to let them do something naughty, the hilarious conversation during Rodney's flying lesson, and the fact that Rodney really does want to get out there and help John. He's changed so much! *♥s him*

McKay: I’m just seeing what this baby can do.
Abrams: Did you just say 'this baby'?!
McKay: That’s perfectly appropriate space pilot parlance.
Sheppard: Try to fly the baby in a straight line.
McKay: I am flying in a straight line. (A screen appears superimposed over the windshield. It shows a straight line in comparison to the route that Rodney is flying, which is all over the place.)
Sheppard: Not so much.
McKay: Well... In space all motion is relative.

(gratuitous hot shot!)
4. Letter From Pegasus - Where they all make videos to send home
SO. MUCH. LOVE!
Remember Zelenka's video?

Zelenka: (long speech in Czech, with hand motions, obviously describing the rising of Atlantis from the ocean floor)
Ford: You didn't say anything that would require security clearance, did you?
Zelenka: Security clearance?

And remember Miko? The adorable woman with a crush on Rodney! I wonder what happened to her...

And, of course, Rodney's hilarious recording. Oh Rodney!
5. Duet - Where John is impressed by Ronon's big gun
I was going to write about the hilarious kiss scene, but then I remembered this one. The expression on John's face is just too funny!

Ronon: I prefer this. (picks up his own gun and fires at the target)
Sheppard: (peers through the large hole) I can see why.
6. Grace Under Pressure - Where Rodney is stuck in a sinking jumper
This episode is David Hewlett acting GOLD. There are many parts that I could quote, but this one is definitely one of my favourites:
McKay: (yelling at Jumper) Oh, come on! A little heat’s gonna cost me forty minutes? Is that really how you want this to go down, huh? You want me to freeze to death? You’re sure you wouldn’t rather I imploded with you, you lemon? Do you really have an opinion anyway, you, you….No! Why? Because you are an inanimate object! Does that stop me from talking to you? Oh, no, no, no, my inanimate friend. Because I have been struck upon the head!

Oh Rodney!
7. McKay and Mrs. Miller - Where Rodney realises that they really do like him
The awesome team moment at the end of this episode remains one of my favourites. I just love that they took the time to convince Rodney that they preferred him over Rod. *gives them all a giant hug*

McKay: (Comes into the mess to find everyone for the third time) Am I just not getting the team e-mails anymore?
Sheppard: Take it easy. We're just talking about Rod.
McKay: Yes, well, of course you are.
Teyla: Do you think he made it back to his universe?
McKay: Well, it's hard to say, really, but I doubt he'll be back, though.
Sheppard: That's good, uh, we found him a little creepy.
McKay: What?
Ronon: I can't stand people who are nice all the time. It makes me feel like they're trying to hide something.
McKay: Really?
Teyla: He kept trying to correct me on my Athosian history. It grew tiresome very quickly.
McKay: Well, he wasn't that bad.
Sheppard: Let's be honest. Rod was annoying.
McKay: Well, I'll be honest with you. That's kind of nice to hear. Now... (Pulls up a chair)...What else has been happening?
Sheppard: Well, Teyla's got the hots for one of the new Marines.
Teyla: (Kicks Sheppard in the leg)
Sheppard: Ow!
Teyla: That is not true.
Ronon: You know it is.
McKay: Hardly new, either.
(Everyone laughs)
8. Doppelganger - Where John goes into Rodney's dream to save him, and then Rodney does the same for John
McKay: Which one are you?
Sheppard: Me.
McKay: Good you or bad you?
Sheppard: Me me, is that you you?
McKay: I think so.
Sheppard: Thanks.
McKay: Okay this is really weird.
Sheppard: You're tellin' me.
McKay: I thought there'd by more hot girls.
Sheppard: Yeah.

I ♥ heroic Rodney!

(gratuitous hot shot!)
9. The Shrine - Where we learn that (1) Rodney runs to John when he's feeling scared, and (2) hanging out on the pier and drinking beer is canon!
McKay: How about we say goodbye now.
Sheppard: No.
McKay: What do you mean no?
Sheppard: I mean, I'm not saying goodbye.
McKay: Well I'm saying it anyway.
Sheppard: Well, I'm not listening.
McKay: Pretty soon I won't know who you are.
Sheppard: Then I'll remind you.
McKay: Yeah, but I don't want you to see me like that. I want you to remember me as I am, as your genius friend. Not as some…
Sheppard: Not happening.
McKay: Please.
Sheppard: You're stuck with me, Rodney. Just accept it.
McKay: But...
Sheppard: No. That's final.
McKay: 'Kay.
Sheppard: Okay.
McKay: You're a good friend, Arthur.
(They look at each other and burst out laughing)

Oh Boys!
10. Enemy at the Gates - A nice ending!

Perhaps this isn't a popular opinion, but I liked the ending. They're all happy and alive and together. (Lorne, Chuck and Zelenka should be up there too, but other than that, I think this was a good way to finish my pretty, pretty show.
And now fandom can continue the show how we want!

Date: 2009-01-10 06:25 am (UTC)However, when I thought about it more, I realised that it actually does make sense. She Doogie-Howsered her way through school, and therefore probably knows what it's like to be a little socially awkward, and she also knows what it's like to be a genius.
Taking that into account, I buy that she would like Rodney. I think that she finds his awkwardness endearing (I know that I do!) and she likes that he says what he thinks and doesn't sugarcoat things. She obviously values that quality, because she does the same thing to him --- I really like that she tells him when she thinks he's being arrogant. Because of that, I actually think she's good for him.
As much as I like the idea of John and Rodney, John is currently far to screwed up to be in a happy relationship.
So Rodney can be in a healthy relationship for a while, and John can spend a while coming to terms with his myriad of issues, and learning that he wants and deserves happiness himself.
Rodney will realise that there's something missing from his relationship with Keller, and will end it with her. DADT will be overturned, and John will finally have the courage to tell Rodney how he feels.
Then they can live happily ever after!
*cough* Not that I've given this a lot of thought!!

What's a world without any Stargates? One I don't want to live in.

Date: 2009-01-10 03:45 am (UTC)But you're right that the show must go on - and fandom is just the crazy entity to continue it! :D
A couple of my favorite quotes:
Rodney: It's a brisk walk away.
John: And by 'brisk' you mean 'far'?
Rodney: And by 'walk' I mean 'run'.
Rodney: You shot me!
John: Yes, Rodney, I shot you, and I said I was sorry!
Ronon: You shot me too.
John: I'm sorry for shooting everyone!!

Date: 2009-01-10 07:50 am (UTC)All these moments make all smiley and nostalgic and happy. Oh show, we had a good run! And thought the ending was fitting and pretty well done. (Of course, now someone has to write the story where the team can't adapt to being back to earth, and after tons of angsting and whatnot they manage to take back the city and fly it to Pegasus. Yes.)

Date: 2009-01-10 08:54 pm (UTC)I haven't watched Atlantis since season three, but still a big fan <3.
Also, is Nykl a chronically shy person cause he looks really weird in all his interviews.
Plus, thank you muchly for all the gratituously sexy shots. <3 How I've missed them so <3.
Peace :D

Carson: Aye.
