I just finished watching Durham County, and all I have to say is wow. That was frackin' fantastic television. It was very dark, intense and so damn good. The opening credits were amazing, and Hugh Dillon's acting continues to impress me. (Also, he wears a hoodie with a jacket over the top, which is (in my opinion) one of the hottest things that a man can wear).

Is it coming back for a second season? I'm really looking forward to seeing where they take it.

Back to Hugh, on [community profile] the_ckr_files, Hard Core Logo was described as "a gateway drug to Hugh Dillon". That is so true. I hadn't even heard of him before HCL, but was very impressed with his performance, so I've since started tracking down his other appearances. In both Flashpoint and Durham County, he was fantastic. He has this amazing intensity in his acting; it's brilliant. I don't have words. Let me just say that if I was a 16-year-old girl, I'd be drawing love hearts around his name about now! :)

At the other end of the spectrum, I also watched the Bliss episode, "Six Days", staring Callum Keith Rennie. That was... less good. The story was terrible, but it did have a vital redeeming feature - Callum was naked!

We first met his character after about 5 minutes, but yet he had his clothes off by about the 10th minute, and was having sex by about the 15th minute. Go Callum! He was pretty adorable (particularly when dancing whilst drying the dishes) but man, that story was awfully predictable and formulaic. But Callum was naked, so it was certainly worth my 22 minutes.

(Also, I've changed my layout. I haven't finished playing around with it yet, but I think I like it so far.)

Durham County is awesome even if it does give me the wiggins. That's the point, I guess. And it's a beautifully-shot show, as well... all the creepier since that countryside is the kind I grew up with. I'll never look at mixedwood forest the same again! D:

Hugh said the second season is apparently going to be darker. O_o

And ahahha, Bliss. It's a terrible show. But yeah, nekkid Callum makes up for most anything.

Yeah, it is a beautifully shot show. And the believable acting makes it that much creepier too. I'm looking forward to seeing the next season.

*nods* I'd watch anything to see Callum nekkid. Not that I'm, you know, shallow or anything! :)
