Should I buy a Wii?

I'm thinking about buying a Nintendo Wii. I certainly don't need one, and I worry that I might get bored of it after only a few weeks. Also, I probably shouldn't spend the money... but I still kinda want to.

[Poll #1362714]

To the Aussies on my friendslist, what's a good price to pay? Kmart has a sale at the moment, and you can get the console, with a nanchuck, a remote, and three games (Wii Sports, Wii Music, and TV Show King Party or Fun Fair Party) for $399. But then I'd have to buy at least another nanchuck thingo, and I really want Wii Fit... which is another $124.

Hmmm... to be responsible or not to be responsible? That is the question.

It severely depends on what games you want.
The interactive sporty ones get old after a while.

...But my favourites so far are 'Super Mario Smash Brawl' (non-obsessive gamer-friendly, and it has many sexy characters.. like Snake)..'Rabbid Tv party' (interactive bliss.. many games, including a dancing one that makes you shake your arms in rhythm) and 'No More Heroes' (new gamer friendly and it has a main character who has a cat...

See if you like those and decide if you want them enough to get the console. Otherwise, XBox 360 has many many more games that you may like: 'Assassin's Creed', 'Guitar Hero'... etc.

I decided to buy one! It's so shiny! I'm definitely a fan of the fairly simple kind of games that seem to be quite common on the Wii, so I think I'll enjoy it. I was also excited to learn that you can get guitar hero on Wii. yay!

The best possible way to get a Wii is to get it as a gift. *nods*
My gf's brother bought us one. :-D

Yeah, a gift would be good because you wouldn't have to justify the cost. *shrugs* I managed to justify it, so I bought myself one. :D

Yay! Glad to hear it. I just bought one, and I have a feeling I'm going to love it!

I wouldn't, I know some people that own them. Half wish they never bought it because they got tired of it, and the other half wish they never bought it because it's ruined their social lives.

Yeah, I do know some people who regret the purchase because they never use it... but I also know a few people who love, love, LOVE it (but yet haven't become complete hermits ... at least not yet!)

My mom got one for my little sister and it is so much fun. I agree that it depends on the games and how much time you have to spend actually being able to play it. I find it so so much fun, especially Shawn White's snowbroading which you use with the Wii Fit and is addictive.

I decided to buy one! I have a feeling I'm going to love it! The shop I got it from didn't have Wii Fit in stock, but I'll definitely be getting that in the next few days. :)

dammit i just wrote a long post but my connection wigged out and didn't send it :\

anyway, i'm all for you getting the wii... but instead of the bundle from kmart i think you should get the set on offer at jb... it's the same deal, same price, but instead of wii music and the wii party game you get animal crossing. animal crossing is the game that i've been playing for around 6 months now... since it was released... and i'm nowhere near bored with it. it's a good game to play for a little bit each day (30 minutes or so), and isn't at all demanding... i can't really explain it so you should look it up and check it out :) i used to have it on my ds and i played it to death, and i'm still loving it on the wii... whereas the two games in the kmart bundle have received fairly mediocre reviews and don't look too good, especially for a long term prospect.

so heed my advice, young one :P get the animal crossing bundle and just play it by yourself for a while... both animal crossing and wii fit are perfect for that, and you'll certainly get your moneys worth with just those two games... and then at a later date you can get more controllers and games should you want to play with friends :) so yes, lovely games, not too demanding of your time, and you'll have lots of fun :D

I bought one! I ended up getting a better deal. They didn't have any of the Wii Music in stock, so I got Mario Party 8 instead. As you said, the reviews for it were pretty mediocre, and the Mario game looks like fun, so I'm happy with that!

I think I remember playing Animal Crossing... and it was fun. *shrugs* Maybe I'll get that another day.

Hmmm... maybe it was a different game that I played. That one does look super cute.

I have been anti-video games my whole life. I suck at them!

But my Wii? Oh, I love my Wii.

I use it constantly...from Mario Cart, to Wii Sports, to Wii Fit.

Love it, love it, love it.

(my Mom who's 69 even plays!)

The last game console I bought was a Sega Mega Drive, which I bought in the 90s. I've avoided them since then, but so many people who usually hate video games keep telling me how much they love their Wii.

I couldn't resist any longer, so I bought one! I'm looking forward to playing!

Yeah! You won't regret it.

If you get Mario Kart, we should watch for each other on International online play. I actually ended up in a game with a friend of mine from England once! That was soooo cool!
