How should SG1 end???

I'm sure that by now all SG1 fans will have heard that season 10 will be the last season. Personally, I'm not too upset about it. I will miss it, but 10 years is a bloody good effort, and I would prefer to see the show end on a high.
However, my problem is that I think it'll be very difficult for them to end it well, particularly since what happens at the end of SG1 could have repercussions for SGA and their contact with Earth.
This got me thinking to how I'd like the show to end. I read a great suggestion on
foreverseenstar's journal, suggesting a cliff-hanger ending - "Atlantis should be out of contact w/ Earth and then just get one message that says "The Ori are here." and then have that be it." I really like that idea! It could also make Atlantis more interesting, because they'd be "on their own" without supplies and reinforcments again.
I'm interested in how other people would like to see it end... So I present a poll!

Date: 2006-08-23 02:35 pm (UTC)OTOH, they better NOT send any of the cast to SGA. I can't imagine any of them fitting into SGA without some cost to the cast I know and love....
They have to do a cliffhanger ending so they have an excuse to do the movie they are all talking about :)

Date: 2006-08-24 11:54 am (UTC)I also agree that it would be terrible if an SG1 cast member ends up on Atlantis - there just isn't room for another main character...

Date: 2006-08-23 06:13 pm (UTC)But I also really like that cliffahnger idea! They'll never be able to come up with a proper ending for the show in that short time, so a cliffhanger of some kind seems like the best solution, really!

Date: 2006-08-24 11:58 am (UTC)The cliffhanger would be very cool. It would be stressful not knowing what had happened, but it's still a great solution.

Date: 2006-08-23 07:39 pm (UTC)But, one thing that I am vehemently against is any character from SG1 ending up on SGA. As much as I love SG1, SGA is its own show and I really enjoy the team dynamics it has and want that developed. Sending Carter, Jackson, or anyone else from SG1, over there would just mess things up. My fear is that one or more of SGA's characters would get shafted to make way... And I love all the characters on there too much, even 'Chuck', the unnamed gate tech. ;D

Date: 2006-08-24 12:43 pm (UTC)I also completely agree that it'll be bad if an SG1 character ends up on SGA. I love the SG1 characters, but there just isn't room for them. SGA is already a pretty packed cast, and its already hard enough to give them all screen time. And I don't want all of my 'Lantis cast (including the wonderful minor characters) to be pushed aside to make way for someone new.
Of course, I guess it's possible that they'll surprise us... the addition of Ronon worked really well, so there is at least a chance that it might be ok... (but I still really hope they don't)

Date: 2006-08-24 04:50 pm (UTC)It's had a good running in the last 10 years and we've had the ups and the downs and everything we could have possibly asked for. I don't think they left anything out that they could have put in, so I'm very happy with what we had.
Having said that, I hope, too, that what they do doesn't backlash to Atlantis. So far we've had the two run side by side very smoothly and I want that to continue. So the ending, while it could have (Read: should have) repercussions on Atlantis, it doesn't directly influence the show. For instance, moving some of the characters to Atlantis.
I don't think this would be fair on the characters of Atlantis, as they have had time to develope and grow as a team and in friendship. I can't see the integration of any of the SG1 characters happening well/at all.
If they get cut off from Earth, this would mean Atlantis is in effect, on it's own regarding supplies/ammunition whatever, and it leads to all sorts of considerations. What about the Deadalus? (sp?) Would they have to go back to Earth, or would they be able to stay with Atlantis long term? What about the food/weapons? Would they have to go back to trading with other worlds again?
OMG sorry, I should totally make this a post instead of posting it as a comment in your journal ^^;; My apologies, but you DO THESE THINGS TO ME >.<
Yes. I am happy blaming you :P No offence inteneded, really XD

Date: 2006-08-26 05:59 am (UTC)I also REALLY hope that Atlantis doesn't change for the worse when SG1 ends.
I can't picture any of the SG1 team members intergrating well into Atlantis. There are already so many main cast members - McKay, Sheppard, Ronon, Teyla, Weir and Beckett - and then there is also the regular minor characters (Zelenka, Lorne etc) and I want to see more of them - not less. It just wouldn't make sense for an SG1 character to go to Atlantis and not have a large input, so I fear that at least one of the Atlantis characters is going to be shafted to make way... I hope I'm wrong though...
That said, I do think it could be really interesting to see Atlantis cut off from Earth again (so that they need to find their own resources). The Wraith and the Replicators are both so bad (and there don't seem to be many other advanced worlds in the Pegasus Galaxy) so it's getting to that point where any government would seriously have to consider whether the risks of being the Pegasus Galaxy outweigh the benefits. I think Atlantis could be really interesting if they were stranded on their own again.
Wow, it looks like I'm rambling here now!! I think I'll stop! In conclusion - Atlantis rocks and they should leave my pretty show alone! :D

Date: 2006-08-26 09:20 pm (UTC)No I don't think so either, and there should definitly be more Zelenka and Lorne. They're already loved characters so yes, more of them and definitly no SG1 characters! As much as I love them, like you said, it would be difficult to integrate them onto Atlantis well. And I'm not so sure they'd gel with the Atlantis crew well at all. They're all to alike, and there would bemore clashes than is good for them.
It's like, Atlantis is this colony, and bringing in the restrictions and orders from Earth has never gone down well with them, so there wouldn't be a viable way they could rectify that by adding the SG1 crew in there.
I mean, Cameron and John on the same team? Ha! Yeah right :P Cameron'd be shoving a lemon down Rodney's throat the second he arrived :P
See, the Pegasus Galaxy is a good expample why it wouldn't work. That's all I'm saying!
I'm all for your suggestion! Back off Atlantis, and dissapear with dignity rather then tragedy :) <--- Not that I'm into melodrama much :D
