Just a quick entry whilst I wait for the new 'Lantis episode!

First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY [personal profile] mercscilla! I hope you have a fantastic day! :D

Also, congrats to the Adelaide Crows for a fantastic season. I went to the game this afternoon, and we lost, which means that our season is over, but it was a great year. I'm still very proud of my boys.

I also need some help. I have a few friends who are SG1 fans, but they don't like (or haven't seen) SGA. I've decided that I'm going to force them politely suggest that we should have an Atlantis marathon. So, my question: if you are trying to convert someone who already likes SG1 to SGA, what are the best episodes to show them?? (remembering that these people are yet to understand the love of Rodney). Basically, I'd love it if you guys could put yourselves in the mind of a non-fan, and decide which episode would have you hooked? I was going to make this a poll, but there are too many episodes. I'm hoping to get a shortlist from this, and then I'll use those to make a poll. :)

Ok, now I'm off to watch the new ep! :)

Finally, a pic for Supernatural fans:

I would certainly show them the original double episode, because it links in with SG1 characters (for the SG1 fans) and also obviously sets up the universe.

Most people say Hide and Seek was the episode that got them hooked on McKay and I can totally see that.

Then it would depend on whether they like banter or action or whatever. I think the Storm and The Eye were definitel favourites of mine, but I don't know if you'd want to be more into the characters first??

Goodluck. Convert, convert, convert!!!

Yep - I think I'll start with the Rising. A couple of friends have seen those episodes before, but (believe it or not) didn't get hooked. I think they were determined to dislike it because it wasn't SG1 though, so I'm going to make them watch it with an open mind.

I agree that The Storm and The Eye could be good --- there's a lot of action and good effects --- but as you say, I think the later episodes are more enjoyable when you care about the characters... Hmmm... well, hopefully my conversion will be effective! :)

I think "The Storm"/"The Eye is a really excellent two-parter. I also loved all three parts of "The Siege".

Okay, trying to limit it to single eps: "Aurora", "Inferno" (for the super volcano)...

Yeah, The Storm and The Eye might be a good two parter to start with - they were great episodes. And I agree that Inferno could be good too - there was great banter and action.

I think that most episodes are more enjoyable when you care a bit about the characters, but I do think something like The Storm and the Eye or Inferno could be good to get them hooked! :)

lhdjhjdsfsf. Ack. Jared.. Thanks for that :) You totally made my morning afternoon! ^^

Episode wise. Hmm... Season One I would totally go for Thirty Eight Minutes. It's my favorite Season one episode. Also... probably The Defiant One and The Hot Zone. . Season Two I would have to go for The Intruder and Grace Under Pressure. The latter because it's my favourite episode from two and I would be remiss not to add it : D. And from Season Three I would have to go for Common Ground and Phantoms, although if Season Three had actually been Season One? jshfjshdf. NO. WORDS.

Season THree is by far the best so far IMO. :)))

Heehee! Yep - those Supernatural boys are very nice to look at!

They are all good episode choices. Particularly The Defiant One - I actually think that might be a good one to start with. *thinks* Yep, I think that is a very good one to start with. Shep is incredibly hot in that one, and McKay comes to the rescue, which you've got to love! Oooh, and yes - The Hot Zone is a good episode - DH was brilliant in that one. My friends still hate McKay from his days as a jerk in SG1, so an episode like those two, that show he has changed and is now a completely different person (but still with the arrogant side that we love) is very good. :)

Grace Under Pressure is my second favourite episode (behind McKay and Mrs Miller, which has taken first spot!). I'm glad that you've been enjoying Season 3 as much as me - there are been a lot of amazing eps.

oooh yummy pic! *waits eagerly for the next series*

As for SGA - I'd say start with Rising and Hide and Seek - by which time they'll be completely hooked and will want to watch every single episode in order *g* If that doesn't work (then you need better friends *g*) then Storm/The Eye as mentioned before. For good Rodney/DH eps, I'd also pick Hot Zone, Letters from Pegasus, Duet, GUP and McKay and Mrs Miller. Ummm that's not much of a short list *blushes* but you did say a marathon :)

Yep - I'm looking forward to the new Supernatural eps too.

I completely agree with you that any normal person would be completely hooked after The Rising then Hide and Seek. My best friend has watched SG1 since season 1, and she tried to convince me to watch it for about 8 years. I refused, until just over a year ago when I finally watched it (and loved it).

I watched Atlantis when season one was released on dvd, but she refused at first, because she was sure it would be a crappy spin-off. I eventually made her watch, and she loved it - she was so excited by the first episode that she broke a glass!

My other friends who are SG1 fans reckon that they've watched the first episode, but didn't like it, which I just don't understand! How could you watch that episode and not fall in love!??! I think I might try with The Storm and The Eye...

Those episodes that you listed are all of my favourites, so I think I'll probably make them watch those too... And maybe The Defiant One, because that episode has great banter and action...

Hopefully my attempt at conversion will work! :D

What everyone else said, but definitely "Rising" so they get the concept and characters. Also the introduction being through Jack and Daniel is helpful. On that note if it's possible to show any season 3 episodes, "Progeny" because of the Replicators. I'm a firm believer that Replicators are the best crossover type thing they could've done ever.

Hott picture too. Can't wait for the new season to start.

Mmmm yes - Dean and Sam are very hot - I'm looking forward to the new season!

I agree that the Replicator crossover is a great idea. I think that they're a very clever villian.

I think I'll try starting with The Rising, and then if that doesn't work, maybe try The Defiant One or The Storm and The Eye... I think that basically any episode would have me hooked! :)

A couple of people have suggested The Storm and The Eye. They were very good episodes with plenty of action and great effects. I think that those episodes would be great even without much background information...

And I did love The Return! I personally think that almost any episode would have me hooked! :D

Definately the first two episodes. Then... I don't know, a lot of my favorite episodes have been from this season, like McKay and Mrs. Miller and The Return. Maybe Runner to introduce Ronon.

Supernatural is my pretty show.

Mmmmm, love that icon of Dean - very nice!

A lot of my favourite episodes have been in season 3 too. It's been a brilliant season. I think McKay and Mrs Miller is probably my favourite episode out of all of them.

I reckon it's probably best to start with the first two though...

Thanks! :)

Heehee! So you've been watching the new eps - very good! I really hate cliffhangers. At least the wait isn't too long. They will be showing the second half of season 3 in Canada from the 23rd of October.

The crows loss was very sad...

Yeah, I know. It was very sad. We should have won that game. We would have won it if evil Goldspink wasn't umpiring we had Roo. Oh well - I say go Barry Hall for the grand final! And we can win next year.
