Hee! I'm glad you managed to stop yourself from spraying coffee everywhere! :D
You haven't read or seen Pride and Prejudice??
The book is by Jane Austen. It was written in the 18-hundreds - it's a classic. The picture I used was from the 1995 BBC mini series (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112130/) staring Colin Firth as Mr Darcy - it's pretty great! :D (there was also a version released last year, with Keira Knightley, but it's not as good)
I can't decide if I really really *want* someone to write the John-and-Rodney-are-Lizzie-and-Darcy AU, or if I really really don't.
But of course, it is a truth universally acknowledged that two good things combined make one exceptionally good thing. That is to say: manip guh. I like.
YES. THAT IS SUCH AN AWESOME IDEA I DON'T KNOW WHY NO ONE THOUGHT OF IT YET.
Sorry. The amazingness of your manip and the idea combined to make my capslock stick on. Won't happen again.
He IS Darcy! With the seeming unpleasant at first but really brave and noble with a heart of gold underneath. Oh! This is my new favorite AU to think about, replacing the SGA!Heathers idea, which will just never work no matter how much I like thinking about it.
Hee! I was replying to your comment above basically saying the same thing - that Rodney is perfect for Mr Darcy! Great minds think alike! It just proves that it's a great idea for an AU!! :D
I'm really glad you like the manip! If you're a writer, I'd LOVE to read a Pride and Prejudice AU!! :D
Yeah, I agree! I had the strange urge to do the manip, but I had been thinking that it would look ridiculous... In the end, Hewlett's head doesn't look entirely out of place! :D
LMAO!!! That is the best thing ever, and I need to snag the icon once I get home tonight. Now I will sit back and wait for the fic this is sure to inspire (hopefully het and slash!)
Hee! Great! I'm glad you like! I'm hoping for fic too!
Rodney is 100% definitely Darcy, but I can see the others as a few of the different roles... I quite like the idea of Weir as Lizzy Bennett (and the name works, so that's good) and John as Bingley (but the hair would be completely wrong there!) ... Or it could be a complete AU in which Elizabeth Bennet is actually a male (John). There are just so many possibilities! :D
*laughs* The first picture that I considered maniping was actually Darcy and Bingley together - and I had been planning on doing John as Bingley! The only problem is that Bingley's hair is all wrong, but I guess I could alter that and make it more "John-like"!! :D
*sighs happily at the Darcy in your icon* (I love that scene!)
I was actually surprised by how well the Hewlett seemed to fit with Darcy!! And the more I think about it, the more I realise how much of a "Darcy" McKay actually is! Glad you liked the manip! Thanks! :)
Hee! Glad you liked it! There are some flaws in the manip, but it was just a pretty quick effort, so I'm reasonably happy with the way it turned out. I had originally planned on using McKay's actual hair, and just Darcy's body, but I thought McKay with the hair was too funny so I had to keep it! :)
Yeah, when I started putting the heads together I was surprised by how many similar features David Hewlett and Colin Firth actually have! And Hewlett's expression in that photo definitely looks Darcy-esque!
John seems to have some Bingley sort of qualities when you first see him - all easy-going and friendly and flirty - but then on closer inspection they're not as similar... But yeah, cute couple! :)
I've always loved Pride and Prejudice, but it had never occured to me how similar they were. The idea for the manip just came to me yesterday, and the more I think about it, the more I realise Darcy and McKay are really really similar!
*grins* Thanks so much for the lovely comment! I'm really glad that you enjoyed the manip. I agree that Hewlett's expression in that picture is very Darcy-esque! And I love things that are Crack!tacular! :)
Heehee! I'm glad that it invoked such a strong response from you! It's definitely strange, and I'm glad that you think it's also wonderful! It wasn't until I made the manip that I realised just how similar Darcy and McKay are - they have so many similar personality characteristics!! :D

Re: swooping in from the newsletter, and...
Date: 2006-08-03 02:53 pm (UTC)I'm almost certain that Austen did give him a first name - Fitzwilliam - but it's been a while since I've read it, so I could be wrong...
Either way, I still LOVE the idea of Rodney Darcy! :)
